Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 27: With the issuance of notification for the elections for the lone Lok Sabha seat, the National Conference started mounting pressure on the Congress to field a candidate from the Kargil district to counter the BJP. As the BJP has replaced the sitting Lok Sabha member Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal with the Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) LAHDC-Leh Tashi Gyalson, the National Conference is arguing that only a candidate from Kargil district would effectively counter the Saffron Party. The political landscape in Ladakh is currently marked by intense negotiations between key players, the National Conference (NC) and Congress, aimed at reaching a consensus on candidate selection. Despite several rounds of discussions, a breakthrough remains elusive. The Congress is considering nominating its veteran leader and former minister, Nawang Rigzin Jora, for the seat. Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 27: A CBI officer was killed when his motorcycle slipped while crossing a speed-breaker in Jammu, an official said on Saturday. Paloura resident Prashant Sharma, a deputy superintendent of police in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), was returning home when the accident occurred during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the official said. The accident resulted in Sharma suffering critical head injuries. He was rushed to the Government Medical College, Jammu. Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 27: The Mughal Road was closed for vehicular traffic on Saturday following fresh snowfall in the higher reaches, including Peer Ki Gali, along the alternative route connecting Jammu’s Poonch and Rajouri districts to south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said More than six inches of fresh snow has been recorded at the 11,433-feet high Peer Ki Gali, also known as the Pir Panjal pass, on the Mughal Road, prompting authorities to suspend vehicular traffic as a precautionary measure, they said.
