Jammu, Apr 12: To Celebrate the Baisakhi Mela Festival 2024 & to promote the traditional folk cultural of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) conducted workshop cum Cultural festival which is 415th Friday Series Musical Play “Rangila Duggar” as well in collaboration with Ministry of Culture ,Govt of India & Sangam Tru Art Production at Durga Bhawan, Janipur, Jammu. During the 3 Day Festival , Devotional Cum Cultural programs will be staged at Akhnoor and Jammu. The function was inaugurated after lighting the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest Sh.V.K.Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity ,Government of India, , J.K.Raina, Freelancer Producer Director and Dr. Anju Dogra from Health Department, J&K Government, Mr. Mukesh Singh, Media Person Jammu were the Guests of Honor. The programme commenced with song “ Ayo Sab Mil ke Baisakhi Tayor Manye” , “Kanak Mandi Da tanga Chaliya”, “Jammu Sada Dogre Da Shaar”.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest said Baisakhi, the agricultural festival of happiness and prosperity, is celebrated every year on 13 or 14 April. It's also known as Vaisakhi and is a significant festival for the Sikh community. Baisakhi marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year and commemorates the formation of the Khalsa. The main aim of this NGO is to promote of traditional folk culture of the JKUT i.e Pahari, Gojri,Dogri, Bhaderwahi, Kashmiri etc., for which artistes had scarified their whole life to make traditional folk of the region a house-hold item. We endeavor to carry forward unfinished task in surviving the dying folk art of the region which would diminish if not preserved / nourished properly. As you Know we are engaged in mobilizing the youth for promotion of traditional folk & the role of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan -(NGO) has become very significant in generating awareness among the masses about various social evils through Musical Play / Theatre / Drama which are still very powerful medium of communication. “Rangila Duggar” musical play written, produced and directed by Dr.M.L.Dogra (Chairman BLSKS) & highlighted the importance of the play , the music was composed by Mr.Raju Bajgal which revolves around this festival.
Welcoming the dignitaries Mr.M.L.Dogra, chairman BLSKS explained aims & objectives of the programme and said Baisakhi is celebrated with great pomp and extreme happiness, especially by the Sikhs. The Religious places are cleaned and decorated. Many people throng to the gurdwaras to offer prayers and seek the blessings of the almighty for the prosperous year ahead. Overall, the Baisakhi celebrations are carried out by all the People of India. Baisakhi is a Harvest festival and like all things Punjabi, it is one that involves the society, is colourful, boisterous and involves food, music and dance. Baisakhi is observed in other Indian states too. A large number of tourists pay their obeisance to the deity during this period. This festival showcases the religious traditions as well as the popular culture of the region among the millions of pilgrims who visit the Jammu Ghat during the month of April every year. The Programe will be conclude on 14th April 2024.
Sh. M.C. Kotwal, General Secty. - BLSKS said Baisakhi is also known as the harvest festival and is considered auspicious especially for marriages. Rivers, canals and ponds are thronged by devotees who unfailingly take a ritual dip every year. The singers, musician, actors and students of Music and Computer institute who performed in the musical play were Usha Raina, Mahesh Chander Kotwal, Rajni Gupta, Sudesh Manhas, Bindia Okheda, Kuldeep Raj, Sanjeev Kumar Sodhi, and many others presented the enthralled performance. Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
