Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, and Dr. Anju Dogra from Health Department, J&K Government, Mr. Mukesh Singh, Media Person Jammu were the Guests of Honor. The programme commenced with song “Dr. Ambedkar Bhim Rao Ambedkar”, “ Ayo Sab Mil ke Ye Tayor Manye”, “Hum Sab Hai Baba Saeeb”, “Baba Shaheb Hai Mahan”. Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest highlighted the life history of Bhim Rao Ambedkar, he was born on the 14th of April 1891 in Mhow in the Central Provinces which is now a part of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. He was born in a Dalit family and had to bear the problems faced by people belonging to this caste since his childhood. Ambedkar’s father and ancestors worked for the army of the British East India Company and were not involved in menial tasks. However, they were still considered untouchables because of their caste. Though he went to school he was not allowed to sit with the students belonging to the upper caste groups. He, along with other children from the Dalit class, was made to sit separately and was treated badly. There was discrimination everywhere around him. This discrimination at school and in the society in general inspired him to work for the rights of the Dalits as he grew up. As you Know we are engaged in mobilizing the youth for promotion of traditional folk the role of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan -(NGO) has become very significant in generating awareness among the masses about various social evils through Musical Play / Theatre / Drama which are still very powerful medium of communication. The musical play written, produced and directed by Dr. M.L. Dogra (Chairman BLSKS) highlighted the importance of the play, the music was composed by Mr. Raju Bajgal which revolves around this festival.
Welcoming the dignitaries Mr. M.L. Dogra, chairman BLSKS explained aims & objectives of the programme and said the people of India remember him for his continual efforts for the upliftment of the Dalit community. Ambedkar Jayanti is thus celebrated each year with immense zeal particularly by the people belonging to the Dalit class. Various big and small events are held in different parts of the country on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. Dr. Ambedkar and his contribution to the society is remembered on this day. Evidently, Dr. Ambedkar attained success in convincing the assembly about the importance of equality among the members of the society and the advantages of the eradication of religion and caste inequality. As a result of his tireless efforts and crystal clear vision, reservations were established in colleges, government jobs etc for the people of scheduled caste and scheduled tribes for the upliftment and betterment of the people who were considered to belong from lower castes. These people remember him fondly on Ambedkar Jayanti. Sh. M.C. Kotwal , General Secty. - BLSKS said Ambedkar Jayanti is a day to remember the good deeds of our great political leader who also happened to be a historian, teacher, writer, editor anthropologist and orator. Above all, he was a noble soul who did not only rise and shine but also helped those around him get what they deserved.
