After terming PDP ‘irrelevant,’ Omar looks towards Mehbooba to help NC | Lok Sabha Polls | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 2: After terming Peoples Democratic Party “irrelevant” and announcing that National Conference would field candidates from all the three seats in Kashmir, Omar Abdullah on Tuesday exuded hope that PDP may not field candidates against NC in any of the Lok Sabha constituencies.
Talking to reporters here Omar said that PDP president Mehbooba Mufti hasn’t shown any intention to field candidates against the NC.
He referred to a recent rally of the INDIA bloc in Delhi, where Mehbooba Mufti shared the stage with NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah and reiterated PDP’s commitment to the alliance.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “It seems that Omar has realized that if the PDP fields its candidates it can make the competition tough and the NC candidates can face the heat.”
Pertinently, the National Conference has fielded prominent Gujjar leader and former minister, Mian Altaf from Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, while Ghulam Nabi Azad, president of the DPAP has also decided to try his luck from the same seat.

SRINAGAR, Apr 2: Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Anantnag -Rajouri constituency, his party DPAP said.
Azad left the Congress in 2022, ending his five-decade-long association with the party, and floated his own political outfit-Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP). Today the core committee of DPAP met and we have decided that (party president) Ghulam Nabi Azad will contest the Anantnag-Rajouri seat,” DPAP leader Taj Mohiuddin told reporters here.

Jammu, Apr 2: A man was killed and another injured Tuesday when a vehicle skidded off a road and plunged into a deep gorge in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, police officials said.
The accident took place at Assar-Bulandpur when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve, they said.
A rescue operation was immediately launched and the two accident victims were taken to a hospital where one Kamal Singh (27) was declared dead, they said.

SRINAGAR, Mar 2: Security forces on Tuesday arrested three terrorist associates from Sopore area of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
A pistol and other incriminating materials were recovered from their possession, a police spokesman said. He said the security forces established a joint checkpoint and noticed three suspicious persons attempting to flee from the spot.

JAMMU, Apr 2: Acting on a tip-off regarding the movement of some suspected people, the security forces busted a terror hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials on Tuesday said.
A joint operation was launched by the Special Operations Group (SOG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Rashtriya Rifles in the forest area of Tavi and Upper Gursai in Mendhar sub-division, they said. The terror hideout was busted in a cave and some clothes and eatables were recovered. However, no arms and ammunition were found, the officials said.
