Party 'surrenders' before separatist forces
8/23/2016 12:04:44 AM
Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 22: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) carried out the Tiranga Yatra across the length and breadth of the country, but the party leaders could not muster courage to carry out one such rally in Kashmir valley. Failure of the BJP leaders to carry out the Tiranga Yatra in Kashmir has given an impression that the party has 'surrendered' before the separatist forces in the valley. The BJP leaders have been maintaining that stern action needs to be taken against the separatists, but they themselves have failed to take a small step in organizing the Tiranga Yatra in Kashmir. Both the national as well as local leaders of BJP did not have the courage to hold Tiranga Yatra in Kashmir. The holding of this yatra was more important this time around since Kashmir is on boil following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen Commander, Burhan Muzaffar Wani on July 8. The party leaders seem to be busy in issuing statements from Jammu or New Delhi while doing 'nothing' on ground in the valley. The state based leaders of BJP would in the recent past hold functio...

He said many things about Pakistan and on who created the Kashmir problem and who aggravated it subsequently. He referred to Pakistan, Nehru, the Congress and the NC and it was on expected lines. Actually, Jaitley made three very significant statements. One, "Jammu province being the support-base of the BJP needs added attention". He was right when he admitted that Jammu was the party's core constituency. It's, however, a different matter that the BJP, which got a massive mandate in 2014, betrayed it...

False claim: NC is not even Kashmir-level party
8/22/2016 10:48:52 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 22: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and former J&K CM Omar Abdullah has been creating an impression in Delhi that his party was a state-level party and that the delegation he led to the Union Capital was representative in character. His claim appears to be untenable. There was a time when the NC was the only political party in Kashmir that used to play all shot, good or bad. There was hardly anyone who could take on the NC. As for its presence in Jammu and Ladakh, it was only marginal. Even now, the NC has only little support base in Jammu province and virtually zero support base in Ladakh. It may have a few pockets here and there and the P...
