'Maharaja Hari Singh's statue unveiled on his 119th Birthday anniversary

SAMBA, Sept 23: To remember the unmatched contributions of last crown princely state Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh the Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha (AKRS) J&K today installed a beautiful life size statue of late Maharaja at district Kashtriya Rajput Sabha Samba near Veer Bhoomi Park Samba Jammu Pathankot national highway.
The unveiling ceremony of the statue was performed by the Ch Lal Singh Member of Parliament who attended the ceremony as chief guest. Amid religious ambiance created by the rituals and mantras and bursting of crackers to celebrate the 119th birth day anniversary of late Maharaja the statue was unveiled b y the chief guest.
Paying homage to Maharaja Hari Singh, chief guest and other speakers applauded his vision and remembered him as a secular king who ruled over a state with unique composite culture and also quoted Maharaja's speech during his coronation in 1925, when Maharaja had said "Henceforth I will give no special preference to any religion as now my religion, will be of 'humanity and justice.'
Speakers also highlighted the social reforms introduced by Maharaja, such as, prohibition of child marriage, prohibition of smoking among children, polygamy, opening of doors of temples for scheduled castes and exhorted the youth to follow good deeds in their life.
Among prominent who paid their homage to 'last monarch' late Maharaja included Congress MLC Jugal Kishore, Ex Minister R S Chib, Ex MLA Parkash Sharma, MLA samba Yash Pal Kundal, Sr BJP Leader Chander Parkash Ganga, Vinod Misra General Secretary Congress, Satwant Kour, ,Gambir Singh President Congress Labpor Cell Samba, Chander Udhay Singh.
Earlier, a large numbers of the locals assembled here today at the venue to witness the unveiling of statue and to pay homage to late maharaja on his birthday anniversary. The rallies of the youths headed by their respective youths leaders from Jammu and Samba districts culminated at new Bus Stand Samba.
