Police uses force against protesting polytechnic student in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, Sept 24: Police today used mild cane charge against the student of Government Polytechnic College who were protesting against the non availability of staff, facilities and other requisite infrastructure in the newly established Polytechnic College at Kishtwar.
Led by Prakash Singh along with Moin Qazi students of Polytechnic College in large number today took to streets and held a protest march from College to the office of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar. The protesting students also blocked the main road outside DC Office Kishtwar as a result of which police party accompanying the agitating students used force to disperse the agitating students who were adamant to meet Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar
Later the agitating students called off the protest after Tehsildar Kishtwar assured them that all their demands with regard to appointment of staff will be fulfilled within three days while short comings of books and equipments in library and laboratory will be addressed within 15 days.
While talking to "Early Times", the agitating student said that students were protesting peacefully and claimed that at least 7 students got injured in police action. The students said that despite repeated requests to the concern principal, the college authorities fail to address their problems.
Principal of the College Suket Gupta said that he had request to the Director and higher ups and the delay could be because of protocol. He said that the students again today approached him with their demands and added that he informed the Director Technical education and Commissioner Secretary Technical Education department about the same telephonically. He however said that all the demands of the students are genuine and that's why he is taking up seriously with higher ups for early redressal.
Meanwhile Sunil Sharma BJP leader, Anil Parihar from Panthers Party and Umar Malik PDP Youth President rising from party politics have condemned the police action on college students and look early redressal of students demands
