State Jr Volleyball Boys, Girls teams leave for Nationals

Jammu, Jan 6: J&K State Junior Volleyball Boys and Girls teams are leaving today for participation in 40th Junior National Volleyball Championship for Boys & Girls to be held at Dehradun (Uttarakhahd) from 8th Jan to 14th Jan, 2014. Prior to proceeding for National participation the teams underwent 15 days intensive coaching camp from 23-12-2013 to 06-01-2014 organized by J&K State Sports Council at M.A. Stadium Sports Complex Jammu under the supervision of Rajan Sharma, Sports Officer (J) of J&K State Sports Council Jammu and also wished the teams for better result in the National Championship. The expenditure of the coaching camp have been paid by the J&K State Sports Council.
The Team consists of the following players/officials:
Boys team: Anil Singh of Pallanwala, Sandeep Singh of Pallanwala, Rajan Singh of Pallanwala, Junaid Hamid Bhat of Kulgam, Rohit Kumar of Jammu, Mukesh Sharma of Samba, Umar Nasib Khan of Poonch, Deepak Sharma of Kathua, Sahil Sharma of Kathua , Manik Sharma of Jammu, Ram Bhawan of Rajouri and Amit Kumar of Kathua.
Girls team: Prabojot Kour of Poonch , Mansi Vaid of Poonch, Diksha Sharma of Poonch, Eva Singh of Samba, Reya of Samba, Kanika Sharma of Samba, Mansi of Samba, Ritika of Samba, Mitali of Samba, Shivani of Akhnoor, Hassna of Jammu and Simran of Jammu.
S. Onkar Singh Gill, Bashir Ahmed, Mohd. Tariq, Mulkh RaJ and Anchal Singh are accompanying as coaches and managers of boys and girls teams. J&K State Boys team is placed in Pool-B and will play their matches against Rajasthan, West Bangal Pudducherry, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Tripura. J&K State Girls team is placed in Pool - A and will Play their matches against Haryana, Karnataka, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.


Jesus Motivated Group organizes Games for boys, girls
Jammu, Jan 6: Jesus Motivated Group , a group of Christian families for motivated education and growth organized games for boys and girls at St.Peters Church, Prem Nagar Jammu on the occasion of new year with the objective for motivating the parents and children of the group regarding the importance of education and social awareness.
Fr. Jose ,Parish Priest of the St. Peters catholic Church Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion, whereas Fr.Arul ,Director of the Jesus Motivated Group was the guest of honour. Lateron the trophies were also distributed to the winners among the participating children.
While speaking on the occasion Fr. Jose lauded the efforts of members of the Jesus Motivated Group for organizing the games for the little boys and girls at church campus with the great objective. He also prayed for the best future of the boys and girls in their life. He further said that he feels happy to watch young children in participating different games organized by the group.
Earlier, Fr.Arul Director of the Jesus Motivated Group appreciated the parents and children for showing great interest and dedication for participating in the programmes organized by the group. He futher appealed the parents to take special care of their children and help them in every situations being faced by them and be friendly to them and also shortened the gap. He also announced that the Jesus Motivated Group will start free tution classes for the students and the children of the Christian community who does not afford the tution fees from next week of this month and for this teachers had already been engaged who are ready to give tution classes to the needy students of the group and the community.
Rajesh Gill President of the Group in his welcome address said that group was formed with the sole objective to help the young children in their studies and motivated them for their bright career and to aware the parents of the poor children how to check and supervise their wards in their day to day life and to help them in fulfilling their dreams.
Results in Balloons Girls..Princy declared Ist winner, Mavish declared second and Lincy declared third.
In candle boys ..Firdose declared First , Gibbson declared Second and Manik declared third.
100 meter Race for boys and girls. Stutie declared first, Charles declared second and Abraham declared third.
Balloon Bursting competition for Junior boys..sahil declared first,Bretlee second and Ivan khokher third.
One Leg Race for Boys..Rohan declared first,Francis second and Marrison third.
One leg Race for Girls.. Muskan declared first,Movish second and Rachel third.
The organizing secretaries of the games were Maqueen Khonja, Sujata Mattoo and Justina Victor whereas the members of the organizing team were Promila, Jyoti, Sourav, Sachin, Parrison and Selvestor.

J&K Speedball team wins overall champion trophy
Jammu, Jan 6: The players excelled by medals in the north India Speedball Championship at New Delhi about 300 students from 6 states participated in the event. About 27 member team from J&K participated under the Directions of the Chairman of the J&K speedball association Vijay Gupta and under the supervision of the Sunny Nanda (General Secretary of J&K Speedball Association) accompanied the team. On this occasion director floriculture K.K Sharma, accounts Manager Floriculture K.K Sharma, S.P Langer(Retd.S.C),Rotarians Jammu Tawi president Sunil Jain, Secretary Vijay Kumar Sharma, Abrol and Broka . J&K team wins overall champion trophy while Delhi stands 2nd and Haryana stands 3rd. The J&K state won 6 gold, 5 silver and 13 bronze medals respectively. Gold medal winners are:-Ishita Raina, Manthan Pandoh,Varunpreet Singh, Amandeep Singh, Sugandh Mehta, Sahil Janjua. Silver Medal Winners are :- Rhea Tikku, Pranay Gupta, Mradhima Gupta, Manika Sharma, Aryan Kangotra, Samaksh Kumar, Ritik Ratra. Bronze medal winners are Himanshu Sharma, Mansi Jamwal, Ujjwal Slathia, Adveer Kundal, Pratham Thappa, Dikshant Maltonia, Aditya Avasthi, Rahul Kumar, Harvinder Kour, Dalip Kumar, Samaksh Kumar, Aditya Pratap Singh and Nitin Singh.

8th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament

Big wins for Young Rovers, Jammu Sports


JAMMU, Jan 6: Young Rovers and Jammu Sports made it big wins to advance in the next round of the 8th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by All J&K Christmas Welfare Association at GGM Science College ground, here today.
Young Rovers scored all the goals in the first half of the match beating Mussa Club 3-0. Rahul Verma, Vishal and Naresh Kumar netted the ball in the first, ninth and 11th minute of the match respectively.
In another match of the day, Jammu Sports outplayed District Football Association (DFA) Udhampur by 4-1. Sushil Michel played a key role in Jammu Sports win netting two goals in the third and 40th minute. Sahil converted a penalty kick into goal during the 27th minute while Bunty added a goal in the 38th minutes.
From DFA Udhampur, Harnam Singh reduced the margin beating the goal-keeper in the 52nd minute.
Meanwhile, Young Star beat Vijay Club by two goals to one. Tanvir Singh (3rd) and Ranvijay (44th) were the scorers from winning side while Manmohan scored the lone goal from Vijay Club in the 45th minute.
FIXTURE: Akhnoor XI shall take on Jammu Sports at 12 noon while Jammu United shall be playing against J&K Bank Academy at 2 pm tomorrow.

Major Pritam Singh Memorial T20 from Jan 12

JAMMU, Jan 06: Organised jointly by the Major Baj Singh Club and Brigadier Rajinder Singh Club, Samba, the Ist Major Pritam Singh Memorial Twenty20 Tournament shall start from January 12 at sports field, Badhori in district Samba.
Cricket teams interested in taking part in this tournament can contact member of the organising committee, Jagjit Singh on Mobile No. 9797558183 before January 12.
Pertinent to mention here that first Governor of the J&K, Major Pritam Singh was a native of Badhori in district Samba.


Young Star lifts Shaheed Bhagat Hockey trophy

JAMMU, Jan 6: Young Star lifted the Ist Shaheed Bhagat Hockey Tournament trophy outplaying Sittu Club, Simbal Camp by 4-3 in the final played at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today.
Young Star took the first lead sounding the board in the very second minute of the match through Tanminder Singh while Ramanjot Singh netted the ball in the 11th minute.
Other two goals came through Shivam (29th) and Gurdeep (55th). From Sittu Club, Ramandeep (Senior) scored two goals in the 20th and 45th minute while Harminder Pal struck in the 50th minute.
Ramandeep senior of Sittu Club was declared player of the tournament while man of the match trophy went to Randeep of the same club. Goal-keeper of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club, Imtiaz Hussain was adjudged upcoming player of the tournament. For their competitive spirit, Hiranager Club awarded with fair play trophy by the organizers.
Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Rajesh Kumar was chief guest in the final, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
Speaking to the young players and other distinguished gathering, the chief guest assured all possible help in the promotion of hockey in the state. He stressed upon the youngsters to take part in sports to become discipline citizens.
President of Gandhi Global Family, Padamshree SP Verma was guest of honour. Earlier, Dr Taran Singh presented a brief note of the tournament wherein 10 teams participated on knock-out basis. Prominent among others present were Balwinder Singh, Randheer Singh, Jigmet and Gurmeet Singh.
Also present were Rajesh Gupta, Dr Taran Singh, Romal Singh, Jagjeet Kour, Harcharan Singh, Amardeep Singh, Avtar Singh, Tirlok Singh, Davinder Bakshi, Shakti Singh Jamwal, Jaswant Singh, Manjeet Singh Reen, Ravinder Singh Sarpanch, Rajinder Singh Nathu, Rajinder Singh, Charanjit Singh Sittu and Jaspreet Singh Jimmy.
This tournament was organised by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation under the aegis of Hockey J&K.



4th Police Martyrs' Memorial NZ T20 C’ship
Shabi Club Hoshiarpur, VJCA Delhi win ties

KATHUA, Jan 6: Shabi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur and VJCA Delhi won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing 4th Police Martyrs' Memorial North Zone Twenty20 Cricket Championship at Sports Stadium Kathua, here.
In the first match, Shabi Club defeated Amritsar Sports Club by six wickets. Earlier, Shabi Club won the toss and opted to field. Batting first, Amritsar Club set a target of 130 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
In reply, Shabi Club Hoshiarpur chased the target rather easily making 130 runs in 17.4 overs for four wickets. Tarun of Shabi Club was declared man of the match for his match winning knock of 62. He was awarded with a cash reward of Rs. 1500.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, the VJCA Delhi outplayed Khalsa Cricket Club Jammu by a margin of 36 runs. Batting first, VJCA Delhi made 148 runs losing seven wickets. In reply, Khalsa Club Jammu could not chase the total and the whole side bowled out for 112 runs in 18.5 overs. Vikas Mishra was adjudged man of match.
The man of the match trophy and cash prize was presented by Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua, Mohan Lal.
