NSUI starts signature campaign for RTE 7/11/2014 12:18:50 AM Early Times Report Kishtwar, July 10: National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has demanded implementation of Right to Education Act in Jammu and Kashmir. According to press release, as part of their campaign, NSUI started a two days signature campaign at Kishtwar and later submitted all the signatures to District Development Commissioner in Kishtwar. Hundreds of students from GDC Kishtwar and other institutions participated in signature campaign. The entire exercise was organized and supervised by by Prakash Singh Dadwal, District President NSUI Kishtwar with active co-operation of vice president G D C Unit Kishtwar Imtiyaz Tapal. The event programmed was a goodwill part of organization under the directions of Ajay Kumar, National Delegate of NSUI and Incharge Kishtwar District. While speaking to the students and media, Prakash Singh Dadwal said that the right of children between the age from 6 to 14 yrs to free and compulsory education is the most precious gift given by the central government to the country. RTE act came into effect in whole of India expect Jammu & Kashmir. So we request the J&K govt. to implement this act in the state too.He also said that RTE Act requires all the private schools to reserve 25% of seats to children from poor families and also helps in providing Quality in education which always been the priority of NSUI. The major part of expenses for education under this act is sponsored by central government but unfortunately it is not implemented in the state yet. "In India education is the most efficient weapon we have to fight against poverty, corruption, castism , religionism and many other things which are hindrance on the path of development of our country. This is the only source through which we can convert population as the main asset of the country" he added. He reiterated the statement of Ajay Kumar, National Delegate, Incharge Kishtwar that "NSUI demands and expects from the state Government to take necessary action required for the implementation of RTE Act in Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest".   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
