Dogri Sanstha pays tributes to Verinder Kesar | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov. 9: Dogri Sanstha paid tributes to noted poet of Dogri and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Late Verinder Kesar by holding a literary symposium on his poetry at Dogri Bhawan yesterday. Prof. Satyapal Shrivats, Dr Veena Gupta and Susheel Begana presented three papers on thought and content of poetry written by Kesar who enriched Dogri Ghazal with his unique style and thoughts. His Ghazals collections entitled 'Nighe Rang' and 'Bukkal' are milestones of Dogri Ghazals, they said. Paying tributes to the departed poet Prof. Lalit Magotra, Convener, Advisory Board of Sahitya Academy for Dogri said that Verinder Kesar was one of the rarest of the rare writers who made human agony and dignity core subject of his Ghazals. Sham Talib, Mangal Dass Dogra and some other poets highlighted the contribution of Kesar in enriching the Dogri literature. Eminent poet and Sahitya Academy Awardee Darshan Darshi who participated in the programme as chief guest said that Verinder Kesar always used new symbols and maintained the sanctity of language. Presiding over the function Prof. Baldev Singh paid glowing tributes to Kesar who also contributed two collections of songs besides four books of Ghazals. Earlier Chhatrapal President, Dogri Sanstha welcomed the gathering and highlighted the unique features of literary works of late Kesar. Prof. Nirmal Vinod conducted the programme which culminated with two minutes silence to pay homage to the departed soul. Those present on this occasion included Sham Sajan, Narinder Bhasin, Rattan Basotra, Madan Rangeela, Chanchal Bhasin, Promila Manhas, Rattan Doshi and Dalbir Singh. |
