Police-Public meet held at Kathua 2/2/2015 11:10:49 PM Early Times Report Kathua, Feb 2: Neeva Jain, IPS, new Superintendent of Police today convened a police-public meet on as new SSP Kathua and resolved to eradicate drug mafia in the district. Prominent citizens raised several burning issues in the first Police- Public meeting conducted by SP Kathua who penned down the issues where the flourishing of Drug business was highlighted to seek its immediate remedial measures. Citizens highlighted several issues like Stray animals, encroachment, Overloading, speed riding by Youths, Female feticides etc. People raised the issue of flourishing of drug business in schools and colleges where they cited the example of Government Higher Secondary School Nagri and alleged that the drug is openly sold and purchased but nobody is there to control on the business to save the lives of innocent students. They also said that some ultrasound centres openly detect female feticides and encourage killing the female fetus in womb that affects sex ratio in the state. Citizens suggested installing CCTV cameras in main chowks, continuity of Recovery van to control on traffic and encroachment asides the links roads, special surveillance on inter-state border roads to control on smuggling of drugs and other goods. In respond to the complaints being raised by prominent citizens on the occasion, SP ensured to set up special help line cell to redress the problems being faced by all sections of the society. She sought public support for appropriate action against crime and announced to identify drug suppliers, Illegal detection of female feticide centres, verification about flourishing of drug mafia in educational institutions etc. SP Kathua ensured to provide corruption free policing and appealed public to send SMSs, telephonic call or personal meeting with her to highlight the Mal-functioning of Police staff if anyone finds guilty.
