JAMMU, Aug 23: In a PIL, seeking early completion of mini-secretariat at Mendhar, Poonch, a high court division bench of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice B S Walia today directed senior state functionaries to file response and latest status report of the construction within four weeks. After hearing the petitioners' counsel, the bench issued notices to R&B commissioner, planning commissioner, finance commissioner, PWD (R&B) chief engineer, deputy commissioner, Poonch, SDM, Mendhar, executive engineer (R&B), Poonch, BDO, Mendhar, and AEE (R&B), Mendhar, returnable within four weeks. The counsil submitted that the work on Mendhar mini-secretariat, which was going on at snail's space, had virtually stopped now due to non-availability of funds. He urged the bench to direct the executive agency to restart the work. He also invited the attention of bench towards the piece of land left out of the forest nursery, which was acquired by the state for the construction of mini-secretariat, saying it could be grabbed by the land mafia.(JNF) |
