Central forces on Kashmir streets send separatists into tizzy
JK Police crack whip on stone-pelters, miscreants

ET Report
JAMMU, Aug 23: Central government sending in more forces to Jammu and Kashmir and handing over sensitive areas to paramilitary BSF has created ripples in the separatist camp as the additional forces manning the streets of Srinagar have allowed the Jammu and Kashmir Police to tighten noose around the stone-pelters and miscreants.
Sources told Early Times that Centre has send the additional companies of elite force of paramilitary CRPF, personnel of Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) and Border Security Force to help the JK Police to maintain the law and order and prevent protests from breaking out in volatile areas of the Valley, including Srinagar city.
Sources claimed that separatists have told their masters sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) and in Pakistan that they won't be able to sustain the ongoing protests in Kashmir for a longtime and they would need the help of militants to keep the pot boiling. " Separatists are devising a new strategy to prolong the unrest, which has already ruined the tourist season and has pushed people to the wall as a handful of stone pelters and miscreants have taken entire Kashmir as hostage," said a source.
He claimed that Police have launched a massive crackdown on stone pelters and the ring leaders who are orchestrating protests and rallies in different parts of Kashmir. "Central government sending in additional forces has allowed the Jammu and Kashmir Police to crack the whip on the separatists and their henchmen who are out to establish their writ," the source added.
A Kashmir watcher said, "Centre sending additional troops to Kashmir was inevitable and it was on expected lines. Now people can expect situation to improve fast as the noose against the miscreants is being tightened and the people who were out on streets to disrupt the normal life would be behind the bars soon. As the protests would fizzle out there is every possibility of militancy related incidents increasing in coming days as Pakistan and their agents would try to ensure that uncertainty and terror prevail in Kashmir."
He said, "Situation in Kashmir is grim. Central and state governments would have to put a collective effort to tackle the emerging situation as the neighbouring country and their agents in Kashmir are leaving no stone unturned to flare up the situation again. They are asking people to come out on streets with a hope that a few more people would get killed and they would get a reason to issue a few more protest calendars."
