Karwal new 16 Core Commander | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu|Sept 23 Major General RK Karwal has been appointed as commander of strategically located 16 corps headquarters of Army. One of the largest and most challenging Army formations in the country, the Nagrota based 16 Corps has extended its areas of operations from Pathankote to Poonch. Major Gen Karwal who takes over as new General Officer Commanding replaces Lt Gen TK Sapru. Sapru was already under the orders of transfer. Maj Gen RK Karwal, was commission into the Regiment of Infantry (Rajput Regiment) on 20 Dec 1970. An alumni of the National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy, the General Officer is MSc of the Defence Services Staff College and Post Graduate Diploma in HRM/MBA(HRM). The General Officer has held important appointments at Army Headquarters. He was Military Advisor in High Commission of India at Seychelles and at Islamabad. He has commanded an Infantry Division and has remained ADG(B) before taking this assignment.
