KPs take Govt to task for betraying community on Shrines Bill | Community pays rich tributes to Prem Nath Shastri | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 22: Kashmiri Pandits today took the successive State governments to task for their failure in passage of Hindu Shrines and temples Bill to protect and safeguard the religious places of community in Valley. Accusing the political parties of betrayal in this regard Swami Kumar Ji a spiritual saint and founder of Geeta Satsangh Ashram Muthi said all successive State governments failed to keep their promises in this regard. Swami Ji who was speaking at a function organised in connection with celebration of 96th birth anniversary of Pt. Prem Nath Shastri a great scholar of Shastras and social scientist.The function was organised by Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanaskritik Shodj Sansthan headed by Pt Omkar Nath Shastri at Gole Gujral today. A galaxy of scholars, religious and social activists attended the function and paid floral tributes to Shastri Ji. They also recalled his services to Hindu society in general and Kashmiri cultural in particular. Swami Ji said the condition of Hindu Shrines in Valley is very bad while some havebeen razed to ground and others have been encroached under a sister design but the Government instead of taking measures to protect them is looking as a mute spectator. He said this is being done under a well knit conspiracy to erase every symbol of ancient Kashmiri culture and civilisation in Valley. Swami Ji said it is a pitty that Sansthan has been demanding allotment of a piece of land for Shodh Sansthan in Jammu and despite hollow promises nothing was done in this regard. The Sansthan also demanded erecting of gate in Ajit Colony on the name of Shastri Ji and Rajiv Gupta announced to take up it with concerned agency. The speakers while paying tributes to Shastri Ji termed him a great reformist who believed in practising religion on scientific basis. |
