Jammu, Sept 27 : First additional sessions judge, Jammu, M A Chowdhary today awarded four years rigorous imprisonment to a narco-smuggler.
Kali Dass, son of Sarwan Dass Bhagat of Kalyanpur Jhiri (at present Bhagwati Nagar) was booked by Nowabad police under section 8/20/21 of NDPS Act. The court alsofined him Rs 40,000.
He was apprehended by a patrol of Canal police post on February 2, 2009 at about 3.45 pm from outside Irrigation Store. At the time of his arrest, he was going towards Bhagwati Nagar. A total of 795 parvon spas capsules were recovered from him.
After hearing the APP, the judge awarded the accused a rigorous imprisonment of four years. In default of payment of fine, the convict would further undergo an imprisonment of one fourth of the substantive sentence of imprisonment.
His bail and personal bonds were cancelled and he was ordered to be taken into custody. (JNF) |
