Excise Department conducts raids, 1 arrested

Jammu, Oct 18: In order to curb menace of illicit distillation of liquor the J&K Excise Department today raided Bishnash area and arrested one person along with illicit liquor. According to sources the raids were conducted under supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T. Angchuk and Deputy Excise (Executive) Jammu Nagendra Singh Jamwal. Excise teams led by Excise Taxation Officer Eradication wing Jammu Suresh Sharma along with assisted team conducted series of raid at Bishnah, R.S Pura ranges at village Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Sikanderpur, Dablehar, Kotli-Charkan, Haslachak, Tarachack and Phinder. During the course of raids, one lady namely Sunita Devi wife of late Raj Kumar R/O village -Phinder was arrested and booked under Section (48) of the Excise Act and recovered (02) bottles of Illicit Liquor from her possession. More than 250 Kg. of Lahan and five bottles of Illicit liquor made from Lahan, which is highly hazardous and Injurious to health was recovered by the raiding team from the state land which was later destroyed on the spot.
