Jammu, Oct 19: The Gujjar & Bakkerwal State President Choudhary Nazakat Khatana along with 200 Gujjar Bakerwals met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to list their grievances. The CM listened our problems with sympathy and assured us to look over and act on the said problems. In the meeting many problems and situations were discussed regarding the nomadic Gujjar people of Jammu Division. A charter of memorandum was given which include that Yaqoob S/O Rehmat Ali died on 22 Feb 2016 during a protest for saving his home and family where he was residing from last 30 years in Sarol Bari Brahmana Jammu. The SHO who shot dead Yaqoob and many others were injured, was suspended for which a committee was setup to look over the matter under the Presidency of Divisional Commissioner. Till date there is no report given by the Committee but in fact SHO was restored and doing his duty at Police Station Trikuta Nagar namely Bharat Sharma who was responsible for the death of the above said person. The police force by order of Forest Minister Lal Singh is now torturing the local people and want to vacate them from their residence because of the construction of AIIMS in village Vijaypur Rakh Protiya where 650 Gujjar communities are residing from 40 years. They requested the chief minister to do needful and help for saving their homes as there are 650 houses and about 5000 to 10,000 people live there belonging to lower minorities (ST)of the society. Also they demanded investigation to suspend the mentioned SHO and justice may be given in Yaqob's death case. Other persons who attended the meeting include Anwar Phanda, Sajad Ah. Khatana.
