Bad condition of Malipath to Kuleed Chowk road irks villagers

Kishtwar, Oct 23: Worried about the bad condition between Malipath to Kuleed Chowk road here in the district Kishtwar, the residents have appealed the concerned authorities to maintain the road otherwise they will be forced to come to roads.
According to locals, on one hand the government claims that 100s of Kilometers roads in state of Jammu and Kashmir has been blacktopped, but the Kishtwar town roads apparently expose the tall claims despite the fact that local MLA holds the portfolio of MoS Roads and Buildings in Mehbooba Mufti led PDP-BJP government.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the main road from Malipath to Kuleed Chowk is in complete shambles condition as being full of potholes it gives a great inconvenience to the daily commuters beside resulting massive traffic jams as the road widening project on this stretch was in Limbo since last two decades.
Due to the parking dearth, the vehicles parked on the roadside also eat up the road space, locals said while demanding construction of parking lots top clear congestion on roads of Kishtwar town.
Local said, "It is not only Malipath to Kuleed Chowk road but other main roads also have the same story to tell as road leading to District Hospital Kishtwar is also in shambles which causes lot of inconvenience to the patients reaching to Kishtwar Hospital, particularly to the pregnant women. Similar is tale of road leading to New Bus Stand which also required immediate attention.
Talking to "Early Times" President Public Awareness Front Kishtwar Shakir Saddiqui said that several roads of Kishtwar are in bad shape which causes hardships to the daily commuters. He said that villages like Pochhal, Hullar, Poohi, etc are in close vicinity of office of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar but it takes hour to reach to office courtesy the bad shape of roads.
Siddiqui added that "Roads in the town and in the peripheries are in poor shape and have made these non-motorable as private transporters often shy to ply their vehicles on this worn out roads. Citing examples that the executing agencies are entangled in jurisdictional issues which has impaired the speed of construction, Siddiqui said, "the Kishtwar -Thatri road is in bad shape for over past several months courtesy digging of mobile and broadband cables.
Saddiqui and other locals also added that the fatal accidents took place on these roads on regular basis but political leadership has failed to address the genuine problems of locals.
