Jammu, Oct 23: A youth was subjected to inhuman torture and savagery by police, who detained, abused and thrashed him and later injected intoxicant to make him unconscious allegedly to extort money from him.
Bringing disrepute for men in Khakhi, the Dharamsal police allegedly trapped one Vikas Chandan, a resident of Kalakot on October 22 and subjected him to third degree torture.
"I was coming back home from Jammu on bike, when a police party headed SHO Dharamsal, Darshan Singh intercepted me at Solki bridge and started thrashing me mercilessly in full public view without explaining reason of their wrath on me", Vikas under treatment at GMC told Early Times.
"I was brought into Police Station after some time and they kept on beating me until I fell unconscious", he said and added that after some time they undressed him and SHO clicked nude photographs, and sent the clicked photo to somebody through his phone, and later he called someone and told him that he had taught me the lesson. "My family rushed me to Kalakot Hospital after bail, and the doctor further referred me to district Hospital Rajouri", he said and added that after primary treatment at DH Rajouri, he was referred to GMC Jammu.
"Next morning my family members arrived in Police station and they pleaded the SHO to let them meet me, but Munshi keep telling them that 'Sahib' was in the meeting", he said and added that he was not aware till next morning why he was picked by the police and tortured mercilessly.
"After getting FIR copy, of the case under which put under the bar, my family members left for Rajouri and get bail from CJM. In between, the Munshi of Police Station kept calling him time and again asking whether they get the bail or not", said Avnesh Chanden who runs in shop in Kalakot town.
On getting to know that the bail was granted to the victim, his torture and thrashing was intensified and he was merciless beaten again.
When contacted SHO Dharmsal Darshan Singh said that the youth was arrested under FIR number 83/2016, however he ducked queries why was the youth beaten mercilessly.
When contacted SSP Rajouri Suleman Choudhary said that he recently assumed charge and was not aware about it. |
