J&K Postal Circle organizes special lecture on Constitution Day

JAMMU, Nov 27: On the occasion of Constitution Day Department of Posts, J&K Postal Circle organized a special lecture on Constitution Day. This year the theme of Constitution Day was India—“The Mother of Democracy”.
Ms Kajal Kalsi, Asstt. Professor, Department of Sociology, University of Jammu was the expert speaker on the occasion which was chaired by PMG, J&K Circle Col Vinod Kumar, holding current duties of Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle. Speaking on the occasion, the expert speaker said that Constitution is not a mere lawyers’ document, it is a vehicle of life, and its spirit is always the spirit of age. She further elaborated how the constitution was drafted and after long deliberations it was adopted in 26 November 1949 and formally came into effect from 26-Jan-1950. Col Vinod Kumar led the reading of the preamble to the Constitution and said it is our constitution which guarantees our equality and justice. He further said that our constitution is the holy book and enshrines eternal values that remain as our guiding principles. To uphold all these values and fulfill our fundamental duties to build a stronger India, one should remember our preamble. SSPO’s Jammu Postal Division Sh Ankush Bhagat also spoke on the occasion while SRM Jammu RMS Rattan Lal presented vote of thanks.
