Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 1: A delegation of overaged Kashmiri Pandit relief holders called on Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner Dr. Arvind Karwani to highlight their long-standing grievances and seek government intervention for their rehabilitation. Led by Kuldeep Kashmiri and Bharat Kachroo, the delegation submitted a detailed representation outlining the hardships faced by those who were between 16 and 35 years old at the time of their displacement. They emphasized that this group has remained largely neglected in government policies, leaving them financially vulnerable with no institutional support.
The delegation acknowledged Dr. Karwani as a proactive officer and urged him to bring their concerns to the authorities. They stressed that after 35 years in exile, their generation has suffered immense socio-economic losses and deserves recognition and justice.
Their key demands include:
One-Time Financial Compensation - ?50 lakh per person for a dignified old age.
Permanent Rehabilitation & Housing - Built-up living spaces at district headquarters in Kashmir.
Conversion of Relief into Family Pension - A minimum of ?30,000 per family.
Simplified Documentation Norms - Hassle-free procedures for rehabilitation and financial assistance.
The delegation appealed to the government for immediate action to secure their survival and facilitate their dignified return to their homeland.
