Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 3: In a significant initiative to raise awareness about cancer, FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh (JKL), in collaboration with Fortis Hospital Gurugram and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), turned the bridges of Jammu City pink from 1st to 4th February. This symbolic gesture aligns with World Cancer Day on 4th February, emphasizing the need for early detection, prevention, and treatment of cancer.
Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson FICCI FLO JKL and Dr. SP Singh, Cluster Head, Fortis Gurugram, met with Mr. Devansh Yadav, Municipal Commissioner, Jammu, to propose this impactful initiative. Understanding the growing threat of cancer as a global epidemic, Mr. Devansh Yadav extended his full support, ensuring that the city's iconic bridges light up in pink to spread awareness among the citizens.
This initiative follows the highly successful Cancer Awareness Conclave recently organized by FICCI FLO JKL & Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram. The conclave witnessed participation from over 200 women from both urban and rural areas. Senior doctors from Fortis Gurugram served as key speakers, offering valuable insights into preventive measures, the latest advancements in cancer treatment, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and surgical innovations. The informative session proved beneficial for all attendees, equipping them with crucial knowledge to combat the disease.
In addition to the bridges illumination in pink, Jammu Municipal Corporation played a pivotal role by broadcasting cancer awareness videos on digital screens across the city, ensuring that accurate and essential information reached a larger audience.
Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson, FICCI FLO JKL, expressed her gratitude to Mr. Devansh Yadav, Municipal Commissioner, Jammu for the proactive collaboration. She stated, "Cancer has become a global epidemic, and early detection is key to controlling its impact. As women, we must prioritize our health, be mindful of symptoms, and take necessary preventive measures."
Devansh Yadav, Municipal Commissioner, Jammu lauded the efforts of FICCI FLO JKL & Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram and emphasized the importance of such awareness campaigns. He urged more organizations and forums to step forward in spreading awareness and stated, " Community participation is essential in creating a widespread impact on cancer awareness. We all must work together towards a healthier Jammu & Kashmir.."
This initiative marks a crucial step towards sensitizing the public about cancer prevention and treatment, reinforcing the importance of collective action in the fight against this life-threatening disease.
