03 Notorious drug peddlers arrested by Reasi police

Reasi, Feb 4: Continuing its relentless crackdown on drug abuse under the campaign #EkYudhNasheKeVirudh, Reasi Police has arrested three notorious drug peddlers and recovered 12.97 grams of heroin from their possession.
A special team from Police Station Katra, led by SHO Katra, set up a surprise naka at Bain Nallah near Nomain, Katra. During checking, a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK02CG-8436 was intercepted. Upon frisking, the following recoveries were made:
Sahil Sharma, S/O Yashpal @ Garu, R/O Kanjali, Reasi – 05.96 gm heroin
Manish Singh, S/O Shamsher Singh, R/O Kotli, Tehsil Kashtigarh, Doda – 04.79 gm heroin Nirmal Singh, S/O Daljeet Singh, R/O Mandole, Tehsil Kashtigarh, Doda – 02.22 gm heroin
A total of 12.97 grams of heroin was recovered from the accused, which have been taken into custody. A case under FIR No. 32/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, and an investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages of this drug network. Reasi Police has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to combat drug menace, including: Strict enforcement against drug traffickers under the PITNDPS Act. Widespread awareness programs in every nook and corner of the district. Launching an Anti-Drug Helpline – 9070907017, where informants’ identities are kept confidential. Reasi Police has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug peddlers and urged the public to support the fight against drug abuse. “There is no space for drug peddlers in Reasi,” the police asserted.
