GDC Thannamandi holds one day national workshop on Arabic language

THANNAMANDI, Feb 7: The Department of Arabic in collaboration with the Literary Committee of Govt Degree College Thannamandi organized national workshop on Arabic Language in the Digital Era as part of Viksit Bharat @20247 Abhiyan here on Thursday.
The one day national workshop organized under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, Principal of College, wherein Dr. Asghar Mahmood from Department of Arabic, University of Delhi was Resource person. Dr. Abdul Haque Naimi, convener literary committee and Head Department of Urdu was convener whereas Dr. Goher Iqbal, Head Department of Arabic served as organizing secretary of this workshop.
In a highly interactive session, Dr. Asghar gave a comprehensive account of history and growing relevance Arabic language besides encompassing translation of day to used Arabic words and phrases. He emphasised upon the need of learning Arabic which one of United Nations' official languages and spoken around the world offering jobs and livelihood. The learning of globally important languages like Arabic, Sanskrit and Persian that gave birth to Urdu in Indian sub-continent, is the need in this digital era, he added.
Dr. Farooq, in his message, appreciated the organizing committee for undertaking this innovative effort to impart training and raise awareness about Arabic and learn its relevance in global arena. Dr. Nazakat Hussain, Head Department of History in College also spoke on the occasion while underlining the importance of Arabic in the highly interconnected digital era.
Earlier, Dr. Goher Iqbal introduced the audience about the programme whereas Dr. Abdul Haque Naimi welcomed the guests. Prof. Rizwana Kousar, Head Department of Kashmiri conducted the proceedings of programme and Dr. Nazar Ul Islam, Head Department of Islamic Studies presented formal vote of thanks. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr. Ashaq Malik, Dr. Asif Ajaz Lone, Prof. Altaf Hussain, Dr. Junaid Ahmed, Dr. Gulshan Rashid Bhat, Prof. Fatima Parveen, Dr. Shiraz Ahmed, Anuj Bali, Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, Prof. Rumy Dar, Dr. Nagina Kouser, Dr. Atiq Ul Rehman, Dr. Mohd Arshaq, Dr. Mohd Shakoor, Dr. Arshad Khan and Dr. Showkat Ahmed.
