IGP Jammu stresses innovation and tech-driven policing

JAMMU, Feb 14: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, chaired a comprehensive meeting of all Range DIsG and SSsP of the Jammu Zone at the Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu conference hall. The meeting focused on bringing innovation in policing, enhancing intelligence gathering, revamping the Special Operations Group (SOG), and improving the capabilities in technical units.
Addressing the senior officers, the IGP emphasized the need for a proactive and technology-driven approach to policing. He stressed the importance of integrating advanced intelligence-gathering techniques and strengthening data management systems to enhance efficiency in crime detection and prevention.
The discussion also revolved around revamping the SOG to bolster counter-terrorism efforts and improving the functionality of technical units of the J&K Police. The IGP directed officers to ensure a seamless and real-time flow of intelligence to counter emerging security threats effectively.
Further, he highlighted the importance of a prompt and coordinated response mechanism, calling for the strengthening of police control rooms (PCRs) across the region. He instructed officers to improve their operational preparedness, ensure quick decision-making, and enhance coordination among various police units.
The IGP also underscored the role of data-driven policing, urging officers to maintain and leverage police databases effectively for crime analysis and tracking repeat offenders. He emphasized that the use of modern policing tools, including artificial intelligence-based surveillance and predictive policing methods, must be prioritized to enhance security and law enforcement capabilities.
SSP PCR, SSP Special Operation and Trainings, SP Operations Jammu, CPO and Sr PO, ZPHQ Jammu and SO to IGP Jammu were also present for the meeting. The IGP directed all officers to ensure the swift implementation of discussed measures to strengthen policing in the region. The meeting concluded with a detailed discussion on the implementation of the directives and the formulation of action plans to achieve the desired objectives.
