| DPS, Jammu celebrates R-Day, Basant Panchami with Patriotic, Cultural Zeal | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 24: Delhi Public School, Jammu celebrated the twin occasions of Republic Day and Basant Panchami with great enthusiasm, cultural fervour, and patriotic spirit through a special assembly held in the Pre-Primary Wing. The assembly was organised by Jhelum House, the house on duty, and beautifully blended the essence of national pride with the spirit of wisdom and learning. The assembly was confidently compered by Urwa Fatima and Marwa Fatima of Class I-D. The programme commenced with a floral tribute to Maa Saraswati on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, invoking divine blessings for knowledge and enlightenment. This was followed by the morning prayer, Thought of the Day, an insightful speech highlighting the significance of the day, and other meaningful presentations by students of Class I. The cultural segment added colour and vibrancy to the celebration. Students of Class V presented a melodious Basant Panchami group song, while the spirited Republic Day dance performance by Class IV students captivated the audience, beautifully reflecting themes of patriotism, unity, and national pride. A special highlight of the assembly was the felicitation of student achievers. Mahira Tandon was honoured for securing First Position and a Gold Medal in a National-Level Dance Competition held in Asansol, West Bengal, where she showcased the rich cultural heritage of Dogra dance. Kayra Thakyal of Class I was also applauded for winning a Gold Medal in the 13th Jammu District Ju-Jitsu Martial Art Championship, bringing laurels to the school. The school's commitment to future-ready and aptitude-based education was further reinforced through its collaboration with LogIQids and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (Techfest). Under this initiative, DPS Jammu achieved remarkable success in the Mental Aptitude Olympiad. The prestigious "Leadership Excellence in Future-Ready Education" Trophy was presented to Principal Ruchi Chabra, while the "Excellence in 21st Century Pedagogy" Trophies were awarded to Ms. Navneet Kaur and Dr. Paramjeet Singh. The celebrations extended beyond the assembly into classrooms, ensuring meaningful participation through age-appropriate activities that fostered creativity, joyful learning, and a deep sense of patriotism among students. Addressing the gathering, the Principal, Ruchi Chabra congratulated the students and staff, encouraged the young learners with her pearls of wisdom, and extended heartfelt wishes on the twin occasions of Republic Day and Basant Panchami. The Vice Principal, Meenu Gupta also addressed the students, encouraging them to uphold values of discipline, integrity, and a love for learning. The occasion was also marked by the presence of the Headmaster, Ravi Kumar Kotroo, Deputy Headmaster, Umesh Kumar Sharma, Deputy Headmistress, Ms Rimpi Sharma, Senior Manager Operations, Karandeep Singh, Transport Administrator, M.L. Mehra, Coordinator/ Supervisor, Anu Bali. The coordinating team included Preeti Abrol, Payal Tandon, Richa Gupta, Prerna Malhotra, and Ms. Anuradha Wadhera, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the programme. |
