| Railway Never Sleeps | | | | While interacting with Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) Officer Trainees recently Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha shared his insights on the evolving landscape of mobility and exhorted the young officers to focus on developing tech-inspired railway infrastructure for developed India. The Indian Railways after the country’s independence has transcended tracks and infrastructure. It has emerged as the very circulatory system of aspirations of the people. This vast network drives economic expansion, weaves social cohesion, and binds our nation as one. From formidable mountain heights to remote rural habitation, Indian Railways threads together industry and marketplace while energizing the everyday lives of millions. Railways are the lifeline of the country which keep it moving 24x7. The Railway never sleeps. It’s like blood circulating through the body. The movement of railways keeps the country active all throughout the year. In the year 2025, the Indian Railways achieved a significant milestone as Kashmir got connected with the rest of the country. This achievement is not merely an engineering triumph; it is a statement of integration, inclusion, and progress. For Kashmir, rail connectivity promises accelerated economic growth, enhanced tourism, improved access to markets, and stronger social integration. It stands as a testament to how infrastructure can become a bridge not only between geographies but also between opportunities and hope. As of date India’s railway network is one among the biggest in the world and continues to become better with each passing day. The push toward electrification, high-speed corridors, dedicated freight corridors, station redevelopment, and digital ticketing reflects a broader ambition: to make Indian Railways smarter, greener, safer, and more efficient. The integration of artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, smart signaling, and real-time passenger information systems represents the dawn of a new era of mobility. LG Sinha’s exhortation to IRMS Officer Trainees carries particular significance. These young officers will shape the future of one of the world’s most complex and impactful transport systems. Their responsibility extends beyond operations and administration—they are custodians of innovation, sustainability, and public trust. By embracing technology-driven solutions, they can enhance safety, optimize efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and deliver world-class passenger experiences. In the larger vision of a “Developed India,” modern railways will play a decisive role. They will support industrial corridors, reduce logistics costs, promote regional balance, and enable faster, cleaner mobility. A tech-enabled railway system can act as a catalyst for inclusive growth, ensuring that progress reaches the remotest corners of the nation. |
