| GDC Hiranagar organized a one-day workshop | | | Early Times Report HIRANAGAR, Jan 28: The Psychological Counselling Cell of Government Girdhari Lal Dogra (GLDM) College, Hiranagar, today organized a one-day sensitisation and awareness workshop on the mental well-being of students, under the able patronage of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna. The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, who highlighted the increasing academic and social pressures faced by students in the contemporary environment. She emphasized the importance of mental well-being and shared practical preventive measures and coping strategies to help students manage stress and maintain emotional balance. Dr. Neha Sharma, Medical Officer, Government Hospital, Hiranagar, was the resource person for the workshop. She delivered an informative and engaging lecture on stress management and mental health, underscoring the significance of self-care, emotional awareness, and timely support. Dr. Sharma also interacted with the students and addressed various academic, social, and personal concerns, making the session highly interactive and impactful. Members of the Cell, Prof. Bharat Bhushan (Department of Music) and Prof. Namrata (Department of Geography), shared their views on the importance of counselling initiatives in creating a supportive and healthy academic environment. Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Assistant Professor in Hindi, also addressed the students and encouraged them to develop mental resilience and positive thinking. The programme concluded with Dr. Harvinder Kour, Nodal Officer, College Psychological Counselling Cell, presenting the vote of thanks and expressing gratitude to the Principal, the resource person, faculty members, and students for their active participation. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and proved to be informative and beneficial, reinforcing the institution's commitment to promoting mental well-being and holistic development of its students. |
