| Free bone and joint check-up camp at Uppal Neuro Hospital, over 300 patients benefited | | | Early Times Report AMRITSAR, Jan 28: On the occasion of Republic Day, a free medical check-up camp for bone and joint-related diseases was organized at Uppal Neuro Hospital, Rani Ka Bagh, Amritsar. During the camp, free B.M.D. (Bone Mineral Density) tests were conducted to assess bone strength. In addition, special discounts were offered on all types of investigations and treatment services. During the camp, Dr. Parv Ohri stated that crores of people across India suffer from osteoporosis (weakness of bones, knees, and joints), of which nearly 80% are women. Unfortunately, only about 20% of these patients receive timely treatment. Most people ignore these problems, which leads to worsening of the disease. He advised that bone-related problems should not be taken lightly and warned people against visiting unqualified massage therapists. If daily activities become difficult or if painkillers are required regularly, one should immediately consult a qualified orthopaedic specialist. Dr. Ohri further explained that during the winter season, blood circulation in the muscles becomes lower than normal. Due to cold weather, muscles contract, which increases joint stiffness and pain. Elderly people are affected the most. Therefore, special care is required during winters. He advised people to wear warm clothes, avoid outdoor exercise in extreme cold, and take prescribed medicines regularly and on time. He also recommended exercising for at least 30 minutes daily and consuming a balanced and nutritious diet to prevent bone and joint-related problems. Dr. Ohri added that at Uppal Neuro Hospital, advanced medical techniques are used for knee replacement, hip replacement, shoulder replacement, treatment of bone deformities and injuries in children, management of severe injuries caused by accidents, and successful laser treatment of sports-related injuries. |
