early times report
jammu, Sept 13: The prevailing lawlessness in Kashmir Valley where the situation is deteriorating day by day has further sealed the chances for the return of hapless Kashmiri Pandits to Valley who are leading an exiled life for last 21 years in different parts of the country.
The Valley situation has also proved all claims of the State and Central Governments totally hollow that they were committed to safe and honourable return of the hapless migrants who mostly belong to microscopic minority Pandit community. The Pandits leading an exiled life in their own country also see the chances of their return to their homeland totally bleak in view of surrender policy of Government of India before the separatists and anti national elements who rule the roost in Kashmir and on whose dictates the complete shutdown prevails in Valley for last three months now. The negative attitude of both Union and state Governments towards hapless community has been a cause of concern among them and the prevailing situation in Kashmir which is total negation of secularism and pluralism the basis of Indian democracy has forced the community to accelerate its struggle for the separate homeland within Kashmir Valley forever seven lakh KPs.
The community leadership is also under the constant pressure from its members to join hands on this issue and intensify the struggle on this single point of demand. According to sources the KP leaders whether in Jammu or other parts of the country are being pursuaded by certain pressure groups within community to come on a single platform and launch a desive battle for the realisation of homeland demand as per the Margdarshan resolution of 1991. The sources said the pressure group which comprises of community intellectuals and well meaning persons have decided to meet the KP leaders all over the country asking them to sink their differences and redouble their efforts for taking the homeland struggle to its logical end.
Sources said there has been a general opinion in the entire community now that the homeland was the only alternative in case the Pandits have to return to Kashmir because in view of growing Muslim fundamentalism in the Valley the community can't live in scattered places as was case prior to their mass exodus in 1989-90. Sources said the well meaning persons of the community including some executives in multinational companies, lawyers, writers, scholars and journalists who recently deliberated over the Kashmir situation viz a viz role of Kashmiri Pandits it was decided that this pressure group will hold one to one meeting with the leaders of all three factions of Panun Kashmir, ASKPC, AIKS, JKVM, Delhi Samiti, KPC, YAIKS and other small organisations of the community asking them to work unitedly for the common cause. Sources said the separate homeland is emerging as the only consensus among the community as a solution to its problems in view of the separatists designs who want total Islamisation of the Valley where the majority of Muslims have totally rejected the pluralism and secularism as enshrined in the Constitution. Moreover the stoic silence maintained by Government on issuance of appointment orders for the 3000 KP youth has also been a cause of concern among the community especially in younger generation who have also warned agitation in case the Government does not fulfill its promise by not only issuing the appointment orders but also making the advertisements for the remaining 3000 posts under the PM's package. Justifying the demand of the youth the pressure group will discuss this issue also with the displaced KP leadership, sources
said, adding besides seeking jobs for the displaced youth the group will pursue the leadership to launch a joint struggle on all issues but the main focus should be made on separate homeland within Valley. Sources said the group will also seek the support from the retired bureaucrats and the religious gurus in this regard by asking them to issue an appeal to the community leadership to come on a single platform for the greater good of the community.
