| 2 Army jawans killed in road mishap | | | POONCH: Two soldiers were killed when the water tanker in which they were travelling skidded off the road in Poonch district today.
Sources said that the soldiers were ferrying drinking water to be distributed among the soldiers posted at forward posts. When the water tanker reached near Dhokari hamlet the driver could not negotiate a sharp curve and the tanker skidded off the road and fell in a deep gorge.
Sepoy Satish Kumar and sepoy Balram of 27 Madras died on the spot before they could be rescued by their colleagues . Their bodies were shifted to the base camp to be dispatched to their native places after legal formalities on Tuesday.
Meanwhile head constable of 76 BSF lost his leg near Line Of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district when he inadvertently put his foot on the anti personnel mine today. H/C Vijay Kumar was on duty at bump post in Gambhir sector and was patrolling the LoC when the incident took place in the evening.
He was immediately shifted to the army hospital at Rajouri where his condition was said to be serious. |
