R S Pura villages without power supply | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 14: In another glaring example of negligence of J& K Power Development Department (PDD), as many villages of tehsil R S Pura of district are facing hardships due to failure of power supply because of a lightening three days ago. On September 11 lightening struck on the Grid Station of Khana Chak, as a result, many adjoining villages to which the power was supplied by this grid station went in complete darkness. Many villages including Puro Bhana, Khana Chak, Nai-Basti, Rangpur, Kotli Gale-Bhana, Baspur, Koro Tana, Langrial and many other adjoining villages are fed by Khana Chak Grid Station. “As these days, kharif crop season is going on full swing and the farming community of the area is totally dependent on the electricity for irrigation. Fault at the grid station is also affecting farming activities”, Sohan Choudhary, a farmer. He further said that due to collapse of power supply, businesses of the area based on electricity were also reeling under the crises besides creating problems for student community also. “Government always shows lackadaisical attitude towards the problems of rural areas, if this would have happened in urban areas, government would definitely had taken concrete action well in time” stated one senior citizen of affected area. MLA Suchetgarh Assembly Constituency, Sham Choudhary, when contacted for his comment on the situation, said that “The problem of power supply would take some more time to over come and repairing work of grid station is in full swing and we are trying to complete it soon”. However Chief Engineer PDD, Mohammad Qazmi refused to comment on the issue.
