DYSS facing accommodation and staff shortage | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 14: The Directorate of Youth Service and Sports (DYSS) meant for promotion of sports activities in the state is suffering from acute shortage of accommodation for their offices at various levels many of which are being run in rented accommodations for past more than one and half years. The offices of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZEPO) of the Directorate of Youth Service and Sports whose main purpose is look after promoting the sports activity but they are operating from rented buildings, in many cases in single room. This is not the case of the offices at the zonal level but also at the district level. Further, these offices are also suffering from acute shortage of staff; in many cases even class IV employees are not available for petty work. An employee working at ZEPO office preferring anonymity said that how the employees could do justice with their duties if they were not provided requisite infrastructure. It is pertinent to mention here that at lower level, ZEPO offices are responsible for carrying out tournaments at zonal level and also in schools of the zone. Director General Youth Services and Sports S A Leherwal, said that they had to acquire a office accommodation in every zone to manage their affairs. He further said that firstly they would plan for the construction of district level offices offices, and than steps would be taken for construction of offices at zonal level.
