| Anti-US protest at Bathindi | | | JAMMU: While anti-US protests were today held at Bhatindi here over the desecration of Quran, members of Muslim and Christian communities pledged to maintain communal harmony in a meeting held here.
A protest was held at Bhatindi by Muslims amidst the raising of anti-US, and pro-Islam and pro-Quran slogans.
As mark of protest, Muslims observed a bandh in Bhatindi area. They asked America to tender unconditional apology for its act.
Meanwhile, meetings between Muslims and Christians were held at Christian Colony, Ustad Mohalla and New Plots in which the two sides decided to maintain communal harmony at all costs.
The meetings were also attended by some police officers. Others, who attended these meetings, included Christian Biradari President Ishaq Bhatti, general secretary Markas Gill, Yash Salotra, Karnalik Gill, Mohammad Hafiz, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Haji Ghulam Abdul Rashid, Wahid Mugal and Manzoorr Illahi. |
