Supporters say Peerzada a strong Congman | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 11: Fresh fissures have surfaced in coalition led by Omar Abdullah with former Education Minister Peerzada Mohammed Syed openly refusing to submit his resignation to the Chief Minister. As peerzada's supporters in congress and his Kokernag Constituency term the allegation a conspiracy against the strong Congman in Valley who they said stood through thick and thein with party even when it faced crisis after Mrs Indira Gandhi was ousted from power during the times of emergency. Terming Peerzada a strong Congman who joined the Party as student under the leadership of his uncle Peer Hussam-ud_Din, ther former Education Minister never shifted loyalty to any other political party. He preferred to lead an exiled life in 1989 when militancy hit the Valley instead of leaving the Party or fleeing the country as was done many other politicians at that time. His supporters said Peerzada remained in touch with his cosntiutuency and people even when militancy was in peak in Valley and also maintained a proper contact with the members of the minority community from his constituency who were leading an exiled life in Jammu. He shared their all soorows and joys together and was on forefront in solving their problems also. He also tried his utmost to bridge the gap between the majority community in his constituency and the migrants by organizing their get-togethers and meetings from time to time so that the communication among the people should continue. Terming his ouster from Ministry a big conspiracy peerada's supporters said that so far no probe report is submitted within two days while as in this case the Chief Minister tried to be more prompt. They said if the CM was so sincere in giving a clean administration what action he took against his Party leader and MLA who is also holding a ministerial berth at present when his name surfaced in seeking undue advantage from a DD channel. Why the government did not probe that case and took action against the NC leader, is the question haunting the Congmen from Peerzada's Constituency. They were also displeased over the decision of the Party High Command which without losing even a movement on the instance of Chief Minister asked Peerzada to quit. This way the High Command was also damaging the Party cause in Valley as almost all Cong men are on the centre stage of controversies and in the background of these allegations they have to quit the Ministry one day or the other. If High Command will adopt such a policy towards the Congmen in state then the Party's base will be eroded within years, feel some staunch Congress workers who feel that High Command was allowing NC to have its total supremacy over the Party. They said there is a resentment among a section of Congress leaders in the state against the failure of High Command to accept their demand on rotational Chief Ministership. This way the High Command is making NC strong in Kashmir and eroding the base of the Party, they added. Expressing their total support to Peerzada in his fight against the misdeeds of the government they said the Cong leader should expose the government on the floor of the House and unmask the conspiracies being hatched to weaken the party in the state. They said he should raise the issue of Yousf Shah's mysterious death and the startling revelations made by him so that truth comes to fore. |
