Early Times Report
HIRANAGAR, Nov 8: Government Degree College (GDC), Hiranagar, through its Institutional Innovation Council (IIC), organized a seminar on "Fellowships and Career Opportunities in the Impact Sector" to inspire students in the realm of social entrepreneurship and rural development. The event was held in collaboration with SBI Youth for India Fellowship, a flagship initiative that encourages young professionals from diverse backgrounds to work within rural communities, addressing developmental challenges and supporting sustainable growth.
The session commenced with a warm welcome from Prof. Roopali Jamwal, Startup Coordinator of the college's IIC. In her introductory remarks, Prof. Jamwal outlined the importance of innovation in rural settings and gave an overview of the various startup projects driven by the SBI Youth for India Fellowship program. She highlighted how the fellowship equips young leaders with the skills and resources to initiate and support community-based projects, fostering sustainable solutions in the country's rural landscape.
The seminar's keynote speaker, Abhishek Iyappan, provided students with a comprehensive view of the fellowship's structure, discussing the extensive training, mentorship, and research opportunities it offers to young entrepreneurs across multiple sectors. Iyappan emphasized the fellowship's hands-on approach, where participants work directly with rural communities to design, implement, and scale impactful solutions that address pressing local issues. Through practical examples, he illustrated how the fellowship encourages a blend of innovation and empathy, empowering participants to make a tangible difference.
Dr. Bharat Mahajan, who also contributed to the session, shared his own experiences and insights into the broader impacts of rural development initiatives. He underscored the potential of such fellowships to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, ultimately promoting a new generation of socially responsible leaders.
In her address, Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of GDC Hiranagar, underscored the importance of fostering a supportive ecosystem for innovation within educational institutions. She noted that proactive initiatives like this seminar are essential in cultivating an environment where students feel encouraged to pursue unique, purpose-driven career paths that contribute positively to society.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Shapia Shameem, expressing gratitude to all participants and contributors for their dedication to the event's success. Also present were Prof. Bindu Sharma, President of the IIC, and Prof. Punam Rani, who showed their support for the initiative, reinforcing the college's commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
