Rattan Lal Gupta criticizes BJP Legislators for disrupting Assembly
11/8/2024 10:24:55 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 8: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), today launched a scathing attack against BJP legislators for their disruptive behavior in the Assembly, stating that their repeated interruptions prevented the smooth running of the House and disrupted the vital work of the government.
Terming the conduct as 'undemocratic and irresponsible', the senior NC leader stressed that opposition MLAs have an obligation to engage in constructive dialogue and to raise issues that matter to the general public, rather than creating unnecessary chaos. "The role of the opposition is not merely to criticize but to participate in building solutions for the people of Jammu and Kashmir for which they have been elected and sent by the general public to this temple of democracy. By obstructing proceedings, the BJP is failing in its duty to the citizens," he remarked.
Rattan Lal Gupta emphasized that after nearly a decade of struggle and sacrifices, a popular Govt has established in Jammu and Kashmir, under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Omar Abdullah. He noted that this achievement came as a result of persistent efforts, and the government is focusing on to address the pressing issues of the Jammu and Kashmir. "The Jammu and Kashmir is still navigating through critical challenges, and stability is crucial for us to make meaningful progress," he stated.
Highlighting the recent tragic killing of two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) by terrorists in Kishtwar, Rattan Lal Gupta expressed grief over the loss. "This incident underscores the fragile security situation that persists, requiring unity and resilience from all political parties," he said. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families affected.
The Provincial President urged BJP legislators to adopt a constructive role and act responsibly, pointing out that the people of Jammu and Kashmir expect opposition leaders to contribute positively towards solutions rather than undermine democratic processes. He called on BJP to reconsider its approach and urged its members to engage in discussions that advance the interests of the state and its citizens.
"Let us not waste the opportunity to build a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir," Gupta concluded.
