Coterie of arrogant officers ruining Govt’s reputation: BJP leaders inform party’s general secy

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 8: Amid the widening gap between the common masses and the government, some BJP leaders are up in arms against the style of functioning of some arrogant ‘Babus’ who are treating politicians of J&K, including those of BJP as ‘inferior.”
It was all due to this attitude of such ‘Babus’ that a debate has started within BJP camp about growing alienation among people of the Jammu region. Due to the nationalist mindset, residents of the Jammu region are hesitating to express their anger in open, but local BJP leaders have received several complaints against the attitude of Babus.
Highly placed sources said that during the recent visit BJP national general secretary (organization) B L Santosh said this issue was vociferously raised by senior leaders. “Some leaders sought to draw the attention of Santosh towards complete side-lining of political leadership and hijacking of the entire administration by a coterie of officers who are treating people of Jammu region as inferior”, a senior BJP leader told Early Times.
“Some leaders specially mentioned names of officers who availed every opportunity to demonize political leadership, especially BJP leaders”, a source said and revealed that Santhosh patiently listened to all grievances of party leaders.
“Although B L Santosh has avoided speaking any word about the functioning of governance in J&K, he has taken feedback about some arrogant officers who are responsible for brewing anger among residents of Jammu region”, sources said.
Another BJP leader said that despite the call given by the party to hoist national flags on rooftops on August 5, to mark the second anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, the response of the residents of the Jammu region was not encouraging. “Except rooftops of the senior BJP leaders, flags were not hoisted this time like the previous year”, he said and added that it was a reflection of brewing anger among people.
Sources said that the J&K unit of BJP is worried about the hijacking of the entire administration by a couple of officers who are, intentionally or unintentionally, sabotaging all people-oriented programmes of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The LG is aware of the real problems of the people, but a coterie of bureaucrats is creating the biggest hurdle in the implementation of these programmes on the ground.
