Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 14: Senior politician, Ghulam Nabi Azad will formally make the name of his upcoming political party public by September 25, sources close to the Congress rebel told the Early Times.
Sources said Azad and his close aides have made a list of around two dozen names including those suggested by the supporters to finalize the same.
Sources close to Azad said the reason he delayed to finalize the name of his party was that “he wanted to get a feel of expectations from the people of Jammu and Kashmir and how they would respond to him without a party banner.”
“One of the elderly supporters of Azad Sahib had brought a list of ten names in Urdu and Azad Sahib read them all loudly and put the same in his pocket for discussion for finalization of the name of the party. This is the way he wanted to take the feedback,” said the source.
The sources said Azad had told his inner circle that he wanted to see public response towards him before floating of the party and that he was “overwhelmed by the same.”
The party name, however, as the per insiders, is not supposed to be Jammu and Kashmir centric and the veteran politician looks ahead to expand it to be a national party.
“One thing which is certain is that it wont have ‘Jammu and Kashmir’ in its nomenclature but will eye the national arena,” said the source.
Sources said the only feedback in this regard pending was from South Kashmir and that Azad would visit the place on September 15 to address mega public rally.
Sources said the Azad lobby wants to make the south Kashmir rally “a big success as the only big leader left behind in the Congress hails from south Kashmir.”
Meanwhile Azad continues to camp in Kashmir after his recent visit to Jammu province ahead of floating his own party.
