Political compulsions: Apni Party too rakes up Article 370 issue
11/14/2022 12:35:58 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 13: As the ongoing process of the revision of the electoral roll is likely to be complete by this month, political parties have started luring voters by raking up emotive issues.
While as constituents of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PADG) repeatedly assuring to restore articles 370 and 35-A, now the leadership of J&K Apni Party is also promising to get back these articles through legal battle. Notably after the abrogation of articles 370 and 35-A, the leadership of J&K Apni Party has never promised to restore these articles but the party has started following the footsteps of PAGD to hoodwink people on this emotive issue just for political reasons. While addressing a rally at Srinagar on Saturday, founder of the Apni Party Syed Altaf Bukhari admitted that restoration of Article 370 was not possible through elections or attaining power. He, however, assured that hire prominent lawyers of the country to bring this battle through “legal means”. Altaf Bukhari asserted that his party will spend crores of rupees on lawyers and other things to fight the case tooth and nail for the revocation of the August 05, always speaking truth before the people.
“I want to tell you people that the Apni Party can’t bring Article 370 back after forming the government, but it can only be restored through the Supreme Court where petitions have already been filed”, he said and made it clear that restoration of Article 370 is possible only through legal means and not through political means.
“I will hire the country's prominent lawyers to fight this issue in the Supreme Court and will not hesitate to spend crores of rupees for this legal battle”, Bukhari asserted.
“Our destiny is with India only, but whatever our sufferings are, is because of India itself. However, these issues can only be resolved by India only,” he said and appealed to people not to fall into the trap of other leaders, who claim high and tall.
