RAJOURI, Jan 5: The Forest Department conducted special Plantation drives under J&K Green Drive in Gurdwara Thandapani and Banigalla to mark Prakash Utsav of Sahib-E-Kamaal Guru Gobind Singh ji. A number of Medical and Fruit Plants provided by the Forest Department were planted by devotees to mark the Gurpurav celebration. The department also distributed plant saplings among the devotees. Rangeel Singh, Block Forest Officer Sunderbani and Didar Singh, Block Forest Officer Kangri, with the help of staff members, put up a special counter in the premises of Gurdwara from where the devotees collected plants of their choice. The devotees lauded the efforts of the Forest Department for conducting such drives at religious places. The members of Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee also lauded the efforts of the Forest Department. Neelima Shah, Divisional Forest Officer, Nowshera greeted all the devotees present during the plantation drives. She urged everyone to plant as many plants as possible. Rakesh Verma, Range Forest Officer Sunderbani said that such drives are conducted on special occasions to plant a maximum number of plants. The main objective of J&K Green drive is to sensitize the people about the importance of plants. The whole drive was conducted under the close supervision and directions of Vivek Verma, Conservator of Forests, West Circle Rajouri and Neelima Shah, Divisional Forest Officer, Nowshera. |
