J&K policemen beware, Assam Police prepare list of 650 ‘obese’ cops
5/8/2023 11:04:46 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 8: The Assam Police have drawn up a list of over 650 personnel who are purportedly habitual drinkers or obese, and those found unfit for duty. These policemen will be offered voluntary retirement after a thorough review.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “The Assam Police have taken a commendable step. It would lead to deadwood being chopped off from the department and it would also inculcate the discipline among the force.”
He said, “Reforms in police department are an integral part of its functioning and no State or Union Territory can afford to have unfit policemen.”
The analyst said, “During the past few years the Jammu and Kashmir Police also have been directing its personnel to remain fit and become role models for the society.”
He said, “Many States and UTs can take a cue from the Assam Police and can act tough against the cops who don’t pay much attention towards their fitness. J&K too can do the same. It’s high time for the J&K Policemen to see the writing on the wall and work on their fitness and give up the habits which can put them in trouble.”
It’s in place to mention here that J&K Police have been emphasizing on its obese personnel to work on their physical fitness and reduce their obesity and give up the habits before a list offering voluntary retirement is prepared.
