Early Times Report

Jammu, July 24: A high drama was witnessed at an official meeting in Srinagar on July 24 when a war of words erupted between a senior official in the administration and a politician.
Sources said the senior politician who was invited to a meeting about a religious events being held in Kashmir had voiced some grievances but that he was confronted by a senior official present at the meeting.
Sources said others from the side of administration also joined their colleague and asked the politician to take his words back and be silent.
The sources said the politician objected to the behavior of the officials and decided to stage a walkout.
“I am not used to taking dictations or staying silent on someone’s directions. I will leave the meeting,” the sources quoted the politician as saying.
Sources said others who were with him also left the meeting midway. The sources, however, said the meeting continued after the walkout.
The politician was later backed by his party which issued a statement confronting the administration. The party, which is otherwise seen in the good books of the Bharatiya Janta Party at the centre “spoke its heart out against the bureaucracy.”
Sources said the party would raise the issue with the central government.
It’s for the first time in the last few months that the any politician has openly confronted officials at an official meeting.
Sources said the bureaucrat who confronted the politician has been enjoying good relations with leaders from a different party who are rivals of the said politician and this “high drama” could be part of the same.
Meanwhile the meeting concluded peacefully with both the public representatives and the administration resolving to hold the upcoming events peacefully and with harmony.
When contacted a senior official said politician had tried to level baseless allegations against the administration but the other party has been denying the charges.
