Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 11: The Department of Chemistry, Govt. Degree College, Kathua, organized a vibrant Poster Making Competition on 11th December 2024, themed "Chemistry in Everyday Life." The event was held under the guidance of Principal Prof. Seema Mir, who emphasized the omnipresence of chemistry in daily life, from a morning cup of tea to sustainable development. She highlighted the importance of making optimal use of chemicals to ensure a healthier and more sustainable future. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from Semester I students, who presented insightful posters showcasing the role of chemistry in sectors such as health, technology, cosmetics, food, and industries. Students also elaborated on the impact of chemicals in the human body, highlighting digestive juices, hormones, and nucleic acids. Prof. Jagdish Kumar, Head of the Department of Chemistry, encouraged students to adopt a healthy lifestyle by making judicious use of chemicals. The event was successfully conducted under the supervision of Prof. Shrdha Anand, Prof. Arun Kumar, Dr. Kehar Singh, Prof. Raj Kumari, Dr. Neha Sharma, and Dr. Narayan Dutt Sharma. The posters were evaluated by judges Dr. Sanjeev Gupta (HoD Botany), Prof. Ravinder Kour (Department of Physics), and Prof. Rakesh Sharma, who announced the winners: 1st Place: Palak (Semester I), 2nd Place: Liza (Semester I) and 3rd Place: Sohani (Semester I) Certificates were awarded to all participants and winners by Principal Prof. Seema Mir. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Jagdish Kumar. Faculty members Prof. Neelam Bhagat (HoD Home Science), Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Prof. Ambica Rajput, and Prof. Pawan Kumar also graced the occasion. |
