| JKP foils bovine smuggling attempt, rescues 18 animals | | | Early Times Report
SAMBA, Dec 11: Jammu and Kashmir Police thwarted a bovine smuggling attempt in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district, rescuing 18 bovines and seizing a vehicle used for illegal transportation. Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Police Station Bari Brahmana, led by the SHO and supervised by ASP SDPO Bari Brahmana under the overall guidance of SSP Samba, intercepted a truck near SIDCO Chowk after a high-speed chase. The vehicle, bearing registration number UP11AT-4952, initially tried to evade capture by speeding away near Balole Bridge. Upon inspection, 18 bovines were discovered tied in a cruel manner without valid transportation permits. The animals were safely rescued and relocated to a secure location. A case has been registered under FIR No. 162/2024 U/S 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act at Police Station Bari Brahmana, with further investigation underway.
