Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 11: A 10-day hands-on training program on Marker Assisted Breeding in Plants and Animals was inaugurated by Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SKUAST), Jammu. The event took place at Manthan Hall, Baba Jitto Auditorium Complex, Main Campus, Chatha. The training, organized by the Institute of Biotechnology at SKUAST-Jammu, has attracted 25 research scholars from various universities across Jammu and Kashmir, as well as from Gujarat and Meghalaya. Prof. Tripathi emphasized the importance of molecular biology knowledge for advancements in bio-sciences, such as developing improved strains, animal breeds, and plant varieties. He stressed hands-on experience in laboratory equipment and the preparation of reagents for precise experiments. Prof. S.K. Gupta, Director of Research, and Prof. Rajinder Peshin, Director of Education, highlighted the significance of such training for scholars' research endeavors. Prof. R.K. Salgotra, Director of the Institute of Biotechnology, outlined the program's objectives, while Dr. Kapil K. Tiwari, Convener, presented a formal vote of thanks. |
