SRINAGAR, Sep 13: In a fresh wave of violence, building over alleged desecration of holy Quran in United States of America, as many as 17 civilian demonstrators and arsonists today died and over 300 others, including a Superintendent of Police (SP), sustained injuries when protestors clashed with the authorities and Police opened fire at several places across Kashmir valley. With Tangmarg, Budgam and Pampore emerging as the major flashpoints of turbulence, a Christian missionary school and almost all the government offices were destroyed in a major inferno at the tourist resort of Tangmarg that witnessed the maximum violence of the day.

JAMMU, Sept 13: Omar's step to call Navy divers from Delhi to search out the body of a Kashmiri medical student from Mansar lake here has been widely hailed, but at the same time, he has come under severe criticism for his alleged bias while dealing with similar human tragedies in Jammu.
As Syed Zuhaid Rizvi's wallet and some other belongings were found lying on the Mansar lake bank on May 14 last, he was suspected to have drowned in the lake waters. His body, however, could not be fished out by the Navy divers from the state.

| | 2 Army jawans killed in road mishap | | | POONCH: Two soldiers were killed when the water tanker in which they were travelling skidded off the road in Poonch district today.
Sources said that the soldiers were ferrying drinking water to be distributed among the soldiers posted at forward posts. When the water tanker reached near Dhokari hamlet the driver could not negotiate a sharp curve and the tanker skidded off the road and fell in a deep gorge.
