Govt release 5 Cr for Kashmir, Rs 1.20 Cr for Doda, Kishtwar

Jammu, Mar 14: The recent snowfall and incessant rains in Kashmir and parts of Jammu division destroyed property worth crores.
While the losses are being assessed, the government has released Rs 5 Crore for Kashmir and Rs 1.20 crore to Doda, Reasi, Kishtwar and Ramban districts for meeting the urgent exigencies.
Meanwhile reaching out to the people of far flung and inaccessible areas of Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan in District Kishtwar for exact assessment of damages and to take stock of availability of essential services, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan along with S P Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal today visited these cut off areas through state chopper wherein DC also heard public grievances, Camps at Inshan, Warwan, Novapacchi, Marwah and Sounder Dachhan were also held in which a large number of people participated.
The people highlighted various problems being faced by them, beside the damages suffered due to snowfall, non availability of ration and medical supplies in these areas, opening of Dangdooru road and bridle path enroute to Marwah and Warwan, airlifting of stranded passengers and ailing people, damages to schools , government buildings and agriculture etc.
Meanwhile the meteorological department has predicted more snowfall starting Saturday. This, MET office said shall last four days.
According to an official statement, under the influence of the western disturbance, moderate to heavy rain/snowfall would occur at many places of the State on Saturday and Sunday, while it would occur at most places on Monday and Tuesday.
That is, the period would last from March 15 to March 18. Moreover, during this period heavy to very heavy rain/snowfall would occur at isolated places over the State, the statement read adding that thunder squall accompanies by hailstorm is also likely at these places.
