Early Times Report

Kathua, Jan.31: Youth Services & Sports J&K today convened a meeting related to 60th National School Games 2015 in the premises of DPS Rajbagh where District Officer Youth Services Department with PTIs were also present but surprisingly dozens of Students from Government High School Rajbagh were especially deployed for hospitality.
The concept of deploying students for hospitality and other works is not new and unknown to CEO Kathua and Director, DSE Jammu. The issue has been frequently raised by NGOs and Media in past too but no action has been taken against violators of Child Laborer Law.
It is pertinent to mention here that media raised the issue of child labor in Government High School Chann Lal Din a Village along International Border few days back but no action has been taken Headmaster and staff members of the school. CEO Kathua today said the report is yet to be submitted by ZEO Marheen.
People belonging to deprived section enroll their wards in government schools with the aim to upliftment the life style of their students for bright future but school managements deploy students as laborers. How can a deprived society develop when children work like laborers in the premises and even outside the schools?
When contacted to Vipan Sharma, I/c Headmaster of Govt. High School Rajbagh, he accepted the deployment of the students during schooling hours in a private school to attend the officials during a meeting about the commencement of 60th National School Games 2015. He did not realize his irresponsibility and vital role in spoiling the future of the students. The examinations of different classes are likely to commence soon within weeks but despite of revise syllabus and conducting cycle tests for the preparation of examination, headmaster sent their students for the hospitality of the officers.
Astonishingly, the venue was in private school but no student was sent by administration of private school for the hospitality but management of Government High School Rajbagh deliberately sent their students to impress the officers for personal benefits. Chief Education Officer Kathua and ZEPO Marheen were unknown about the menace and ensured to take stern action against the violators of Law against Child Labor.
An official from District Youth Services & Sports, Kathua through telephonic talk, threatened the media for dare consequences and alleged to highlight the issue for black marketing. The media is being raised the issue to aware people about the suffering of students and violation of Child labor laws.
